CANCELLATION POLICY

Although Gold Coast Medical Centre has had a cancellation policy, recently a number of patients, many new patients, have not attended their appointments and have not given notification to change their appointment.

Our doctors want to be available for your medical needs and the medical needs of all our patients. When a patient does not show for a scheduled appointment, another patient loses an opportunity to be seen.

To keep waiting times to a minimum, unlike other practices, we don’t double book patients.

Our practice now must enforce the following process –

1. Cancellation Fee Policy for General Practitioners: A fee of $89 (standard consultation) will apply should our practice not receive a request to cancel or reschedule the appointment at least four (4) hours prior. This fee is not claimable through Medicare.

2. New Patients:  At the time of booking your appointment, our reception staff will notify the Cancellation Policy and you will be asked to pay the fee upfront. The paid fee will go toward the consultation. Additional fees may apply should the consultation be complex or longer than a standard appointment.

3. Failure to attend appointments without sufficient notice will result in a SMS informing the patient of their non-arrival. Should a patient not attend their appointment three times in a row without notification, the patient may be asked to seek treatment elsewhere.
